The Fontaine de Vaucluse is the source of the crystal-clear Sorgue river. It is thought to be over 1,000 feet deep, but nobody has ever managed to get to the bottom - perhaps there isn't one? It is said that the rainfall from the surrounding hills and valleys, including the Luberon mountain, make their way to this spring. Sometimes it is a raging torrent, sometimes it is dead quiet.
